2010 Referenda and Propositions:

Proposed Changes to the GSA Constitution

Proposed Changes to the GSA Constitution

The first would make the Finance Officer position a year round appointment. This change would insert a few words to bring the term of this officer position into agreement with other statements the constitution makes about the offices oversight of the GSA budget and cosigning responsibilities, both of which occur year round. The fact that the position is not currently year round is an oversight dating from the creation of this position two years ago.

The second change inserts wording into the clause about calling a special meeting of the GSA Council to indicate that e-mail is an acceptable, and the preferred, method informing the graduate student body about such meetings. This change would bring the constitution into line with current realities of communication as well as make this specific clause consistent with other portions of the constitution where language about e-mail and the internet has been added to, or replaced, a somewhat dated emphasis on posting of information on physical bulletin boards.

Text of Constitution and Bylaws as it currently reads is on the left. Proposed changes are on the right with additions is bold and eliminations struck out.

  3. The Expanded REC Center would feature:
    1. A spacious outdoor swimming pool and spa
    2. New gymnasium with more basketball, badminton and volleyball courts
